For those who have everything, these gifts are outside of the box
Think Big. Or Bigger.
A Yacht. Yes, I said a yacht.
I mean, for the man or woman who has everything, they may not yet have a yacht. And Pete McCormick at Jeff Brown Yachts is the expert who can tell you which motor vessel is the right one for your loved one. It’s San Francisco. A yacht should be on the list. You can find Pete on IG here.
A four-bedroom view home in an upscale Pacific Heights building, doorman included.
2500 Steiner Unit 3 was purchased in 2021, renovated and is now on the market. Stunning views of the Bay, living and dining quarters separated from the four bedrooms, and walking distance to Florio, Jane, and everything fabulous on Fillmore and Union Streets.
Community and Culture: 2025 is The Year for Growth.
A Lifetime Membership to the Nob Hill Association ($1,000)
For the SF resident who has everything, it’s not likely they have a lifetime membership to this important organization. Nob Hill sits atop the city with beautiful views from every corner. Huntington Park, The Fairmont, Grace Cathedral- these are just a few of the iconic spaces that define classic San Francisco. The Nob Hill Association is being led by a fabulous executive committee and board of directors, and from all I can see, this is the time to join! Be sure to get in before the Big Four reopens. Interested in living in Nob Hill? Message me for insight into one of the best buildings in the neighborhood with surprisingly low HOAs.
A Membership to MasterClass
During the pandemic I dug deep into Masterclass. Classes from Martha Stewart on building a business, Steve Voss on negotiations, Metallica on how to build a band- the list is endless. The ultimate gift that keeps on giving. For the year long membership at least.
Clean It Up: Prepping Your Home (and Body) for the New Year
Neat Method
One of my favorite client gifts, and a personal indulgence that is oh so healthy. The Neat Method isn’t just an organizing service- their experts come in and create systems for living.
Kate Curtis Wellness
Yes, this is my sister! She has taken her wellness business to the next level and offers guided cleanses and protocols. Use “MHarris15” for 15% off her cleanses.
Live It Up
High End Cannabis: Sonoma Hills Farm Holiday Survival Kit
If you haven’t explored cannabis yet, this may be the time. It’s not just for college kids anymore- your grandma or aunt may prefer Pink Jesus over that Napa Valley Cabernet at this point- and Sonoma Hills Farm is the leader in the industry.
Cultivar Wine Club
Or even better, an insiders investor membership to their new spot opening in Sausalito in 2025. The Cultivar Wine Club includes not only monthly wine shipments, but quarterly parties at their spots on Chestnut Street and in Ghirardelli Square. If you want to kick it up a notch, ask me about their Investor Club for the Sausalito restaurant opening in early 2025- which also includes a chair with your name on it- literally. You know I love a monogram :)
For the Little Ones
Dodo Banana Pajamas
These are the softest most fashionable PJ’s for kids, and Dodo Banana is based right here in San Francisco. Use “mharris20” for 20% off through the holidays.
Boxed Projects by KiwiCo
Kiwi Boxes are boxed projects that arrive on a monthly or quarterly basis. If you have older children, I’ve heard that Crunch Labs are the next step up.
The Tried and True: I’ve featured these favorites in the past and they all stand the test of time for gifting.
December, 2023
Stocking Stuffer: Candy Store SF
Love this local Russian Hill company just a few blocks from our 2540 Polk Street listing. I recently asked them to set up a “candy bar” for the staff at the San Francisco Ballet. Photos to come!
Adult Gift: Hudson Grace
It’s 20% off everything! Great time to purchase holiday napkins, candles, and those cute nomes. Pack them away and start the 2024 Holiday Season fully stocked.
Adult Gift: Cultivar
There is still time for gift box pick up at the Chestnut Street location… or swing by Cultivar Ghirardelli Square, which has its soft opening at the end of this week!
Give to Get: Compass Family Services
Our family adopted a Compass Family and shopped for the holidays for them. It was such a great experience- we will be supporting Compass throughout the year. Call or email me with questions on how to get involved!
Best All-Around: SF Ballet Tickets
This season is sure to impress as the debut season from New Artistic Director Tamara Rojo. Every seat is good at the War memorial Opera House, so paired with dinner out it makes for quite the evening on the town. Interested in attending the Opening Night Performance and After Party? Email me for details!
December, 2022
As someone who is often closely involved with my clients prepping their homes for sale, or prepping their belongings to be moved to a new home, I have a new understanding of “things”- and how they can bring joy- but also become just another thing to move from one place to another.
What sticks with me and those I love are experiences. I’m grateful to live in the City by the Bay and have access to so many incredible experiences that many can only dream of.
This year’s Gift List focuses on extraordinary experiences instead of items that can be wrapped. I hope you (and your loved ones!) enjoy it.
San Francisco Ballet 2023 Opening Night Gala
January 19, 2023: If you have never experienced the opening night of one of our city’s incredible performing arts companies, you truly must. I attended the opening of the San Francisco Symphony in 2006 and it made me fall even deeper in love with this incredible town. This year I am honored to serve as the Gala Dinner Chair for the San Francisco Ballet’s Opening Night. A night out on the town for you and your guests will begin with champagne at the War Memorial Opera House, followed by an incredible performance with new artistic director, Tamara Rojo. Dinner guests will cross Van Ness to have dinner and dance in City Hall. I strongly suggest surprising your loved ones- or friends- with this extraordinary night on the town. Contact me and I am happy to tell you about various ticket options, but more information can also be found
here.
The FOG Design + Art Fair
January 18, 2023:
The FOG Fair in San Francisco is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated contemporary art events in the country- and it’s in our backyard! Whether you gift tickets to the fair, the lectures, or the opening night party- you will be impressed. The 2023 fair will feature a prominent selection of forty-five twentieth-century and contemporary design dealers and leading art galleries — and the party will feature entertainment, culinary delights, and cocktails by design
A Year of Date Nights
I love assembling this package for auctions I am a part of. Select 6-12 of your favorite restaurants in San Francisco and purchase gift cards for each. When the package is unwrapped it’s like a year of fun nights out! Need recommendations for restaurants? Contact me! (I know of a few where I can get you a good reservation!)
Children’s Dream Museum Package
San Francisco is known for its incredible museums. Purchase a year-long membership to the California Academy of Sciences, Bay Area Discovery Museum, and The Exploratorium, and your gift will extend far beyond the holiday. Need help deciding which of these makes sense for the kids in your life? Call me! I can also tell you about some of the special events they put on during the year!
The de Youngsters Day Out is coming up and not to be missed!
Sports Lovers Dream: SF 49ers, Giants, & More!
Who doesn’t love Bay Area sports?! Package a few tickets with a jersey and memorabilia for the perfect sports lover experience. This is a great option for various price points.
Concert VIP Package
I love attending concerts at Oracle Stadium and Chase Arena. Whether it be floor seats, box options, or even general admission, the experience of seeing your favorite performer in these incredible venues is unforgettable. In September I hosted a box for my clients and friends at the Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Poison concert - and we are sure to talk about it for years to come! Luckily baby Taylor made his debut a week later - if he decided to come any earlier we may have named him Bret Michael!
Detox/Retox
Everyone can use some detox time- but also some fun. My absolute favorite yoga studio is NOW Powered Yoga in Corte Madera. Susan Hauser creates an unmatched experience with her music and community. Package a 10-pack of hot yoga with a massage from Cavallo Point to satisfy the “detox” portion of the package. Then you can balance with a gift card to a new fun venue like Empress by Boon in China Town!
December, 2021
Sleigh Bells are ringing and so is my holiday gift list!
As you do your shopping keep in mind these super special small businesses, sure to impress everyone on your shopping list.
Aeropex After Shokz
Are you tired of your AirPods falling out during your run to the Golden Gate Bridge? These wireless headphones are top of the line- and won’t break the bank! I’m wearing them as I run up and down stairs getting my listings ready for market.
Citrona Farms Walnuts
What do you gift to the person who has everything? A 3.5 lb box of local walnuts of course! This farm is owned by my client’s family, and the walnuts are the perfect holiday snacking gift.
The Art of the Cocktail
Anything from the SFMoma store will surely impress, but this book was especially intriguing, as it puts an artistic twist on mixology. Perfect coffee table book for my new listing with plenty of “art walls”!
Caspar Estate Gift Box
The Caspar Estate Olive Oil, Wine, and Honey gift box is an elegant gift for anyone on your list. Caspar is the estate label coupled with Cultivar Wine. A go-to for any occasion!
Emily Joubert
As if I needed another amazing store to pop into after my morning run to As Quoted… but Emily Joubert has just opened in Laurel Village and it is not to be missed. Home, French Pharmacy, Children's Gifts… they have it all at this San Francisco location of a Woodside favorite.
Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy
Prints: You can’t go wrong with framed posters from our beloved Golden Gate National Parks, and the
Pop Out and Play Sets are the perfect toys for children on a flight to somewhere warm this holiday!
Mark and Graham Personalized Backgammon Set
Although you may think of Mark and Graham as a major retailer, buying from this SF-based company is still technically shopping locally! I highly recommend personalization for my clients of all ages.
Stick and Ball’s
Luxury alpaca ponchos are a MUST-HAVE. My first one was purchased at the Junior League of San Francisco Fashion Show in 2013, and I adore the reversible navy and grey combo. But this year I am gifting myself the cream/camel duo to bring me into 2022. Their baby blanket is equally as soft and giftable.
December, 2020
Table and Teaspoon
This company is a PARTY TO GO! Even though we are sheltering in place it doesn’t mean that we have to bore ourselves to death with the same old white dishware we’ve been using since March. Upgrade this holiday season by creating a party at home for your family or pod, and use Table and Teaspoon to help you take it up a notch! Simply go on their website, select the style you would like for your table decor and place settings, and order away!
Use code “MCH” for 15% off through December 31, 2020
The whole setup arrives in a sturdy box- and you don’t even have to wash the dishes when you are finished! Simply send them back. Bonus- this amazing company was created by San Francisco resident and female entrepreneur, Liz Curtis! (No relation- although I have known Liz since college.)
Birdies
Bianca Gates and Marisa Sharkey filled a major hole in the market when they created Birdies, the stylish flat that is secretly a slipper! I was quick to purchase the first set of Birdies when they came out years ago, but their new line has me completely smitten. Their flagship store is on Union Street, and I will be stopping by there to pick up
the Swan, which I plan to wear at home this entire holiday season.
This is THE perfect, affordable, gift for any woman in your life.
Caspar and Cultivar Gifts
A black box from Cultivar Wine or Caspar Estate (the high-end sister of Cultivar) will NOT disappoint. The Caspar Estate Sauvignon Blanc, Honey, and Olive Oil box is my personal favorite- although the combinations are endless when you visit the Gift Collections. This boutique winery (yes, the one started by my husband and his sister!) will please everyone on your list.
Betty Poptart Poncho
Shopping for someone active, fashionable, and loves the beach to brunch “commute”? Betty Poptart’s handmade ponchos are soft, sustainably made, and come in the most vibrant colors. Kate Curtis (yes- my sister!) came up with the design after spending years surfing in Costa Rica and Bali. She searched for a beach coverup that could hang inside a restaurant and instead created the line on her own. The best part- they come in children’s sizes as well!
Nine Fair Backgammon
Nothing screams FABULOUS GIFT more than high-end game boards… especially when they are customized!
Nine Fair Backgammon is the ultimate jaw-dropping present for those who have it all on your list. Be creative with your customization and order NOW for holiday shipping.
Katie Gong
California artist, designer, and woodworker,
Katie Gong, has the most earthy, elegant creations. I received a piece of her artwork as a gift in 2020 and became obsessed. I have the simple knot displayed next to my
Surf Shack hardcover, and the entire display makes me think of summers in Stinson Beach. I highly recommend a piece of Katie’s work for those nature lovers on your list.
Rocks with Soul
Everyone wants
ROCKS! Kerri Lehmann started this business in 2006 with the concept of “fine jewelry with a conscience”. A portion of all sales go to a local nonprofit organization. But don’t let the “do-gooding” distract you from the incredible bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and more she features on her website and in her private showroom. On my list is a Diamond Arrow Necklace along with a Bezzel Tennis Bracelet. You may notice some of Kerri’s signature pieces on residents of San Francisco, but you will have to stalk her
Smathers and Branson
For the man who has everything… he can always have more needlepoint accessories! Yes- I said needlepoint. Customized belts,
Grateful Dead hats that scream preppy more than tie-dyed, a college key chain, or a leather and needlepoint koozie, you will find the perfect gift for your father, uncle, son, friend, or coworker from Smathers and Branson. And although they exhibit East Coast chic vibes, their owners live in San Francisco! Shop local!
Five Mountains Tea
Imagine a gift that encompasses self-care, relaxation, and high quality all in one package. I’ve found it! There is something so indulgent about pouring a hot cup of water and selecting a packet of Five Mountains Tea from their
elegant wood display. Founder, Jason Creech, was first introduced to authentic tea as a monk in an East Asian monastery 25 years ago after taking a temporary leave from University. After 5 years of meditation & countless cups of amazing tea, he “returned”, graduated from University & started Five Mountains. Now, 3 children later, he shares Five Mountains with his wife & business partner, Danielle. Together, as a family and as a brand, they promote, support, and live a healthy lifestyle in beautiful Northern California. Use the code “MCH” to receive 20% off during December. The “Presentation Box Bundle” is the PERFECT gift for almost everyone on your list.
