Parachute Home

Okay so it’s the day after Thanksgiving and I’m at an annual picnic with friends in Stinson Beach. There is a VERY chic, casually cool woman there and I keep noticing her as I am trying to keep my one-year-old from climbing into the water and telling my 7-year-old he cannot have my phone. Finally, for a brief few moments, I ended up speaking with her. She is the director of product for Parachute Home and the sister-in-law to the host of the picnic. I’m immediately intrigued. I’ve heard of Parachute. I want to know more about these luxury linens loved by Gwyneth Paltrow and the like. We talk shop for a few minutes before I have to pull the cord and head home for nap time. But as soon as things settle down I go online and hit select the percale Cal King in white- and I love that they have the option for no top sheet.  When our new duvet and bedding arrive I place it under the Christmas tree, I open it on Christmas day- and I haven’t looked back. Our second set has been ordered. The price point on these sheets is so reasonable, and they exude comfort and luxury simultaneously. These are a go-to for all of my client recommendations now on how to elevate your bedroom with the simplest of steps.

Martha Stewart Master Class: Think Like a Boss. Live Like a Legend

A few years ago I dove deep into MasterClass. I started with the negotiations class by Chris Voss (very good for business!). I then made the Metallica Master Class one of my monthly must-haves. I’m still amazed by how the members of the band can explain their process as a team and as composers to the novice. Last weekend I dug into the Martha Stewart Master Class and was blown away. First, she began her business relatively late in life, which is inspiring for all. Her attention to detail and drive is well known, and for some of the class I had to tell myself “This can’t be you now, but it can be one day.” But the thing I admired most about her approach is her willingness to delve into what she does NOT know, and surround herself with experts. Her collaboration with Snoop Dogg is especially impressive and has made her relevant to a new generation. She has embraced CBDs, AI, and the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit edition at the age of 82! Bring it on Martha

Ahmed Moving Express

We moved! Our family has stayed in the #94123 Marina neighborhood but moved into a larger home that we love. It was critical that our family could be completely moved in by the end of the first week of January. I’m now force-prepping homes for the spring market, so a drawn-out move would not work for me. I called Neat Method for help, and they recommended Ahmed Movers. I could not have been more impressed. Ahmed was so professional, incredibly industrious, and lovely to see every day! They packed us on a Monday, moved us on a Tuesday, and unpacked us (and took all of the boxes/wrapping away!) on a Wednesday. Neat Method organized our kitchen on Wednesday, playroom and primary closet on Thursday, and garage on Friday. I’m sitting in my home office now completely moved in - just one week later! Contact me for other tips and details on moving - I’m happy to help!

@20VC_Reels on Instagram

I’ve been following this account since Will Quist of Slow Capital was featured on it in November 2022. Will discusses “Venture Capital and Elk Hunting”- which was WILDLY interesting to me! I’ll leave it to you to watch the clip. The account is snippets of interviews with “the world’s top venture capitalists and founders” with Harry Stebbings, a British VC. I’ve found it insightful and helpful for breaking down venture capital for those who are not in the industry. I know many of my clients and network ARE in venture capital. Please give me your feedback on the account if you have any, or if you have any other suggestions for interesting accounts to follow.

L’Mida on Chestnut

It’s finally here! The Chestnut Street Bakery has been closed for many years, but the Marina was thrilled to see that a new restaurant would be opening soon. My husband and I visited L’Mida, a Moroccan restaurant with the original location on South Van Ness, last night. The build-out is stunning, the food is fabulous, and I expect to be back to explore more of the menu as soon as possible. The best part- they are open for lunch every day and also have a bar menu from 1 pm-5 pm. The space is huge, so definitely check it out for group outings.

The Edgewood Auxiliary Fair

In the wake of the pandemic and increasing incidents of depression in children, we are lucky to live in a community with access to the Edgewood Center for Children and Families. Edgewood is the place to begin for children and families struggling with mental illness. They listen and provide insight for the journey these families will embark on, and have a list of truly transformative services. On March 30 and 31, the Edgewood Auxiliary will hold its 57th Annual Fair at the Olympic Club Lakeside. Get your tickets today for this event that always sells out. As a current co-president of the auxiliary and past Fair Chair, I can’t wait to shop and support! Are you interested in getting involved in a nonprofit group? I’m happy to discuss various organizations in San Francisco and surrounding areas to try to match you with a purpose that aligns with your goals! Just give me a ring. There are so many groups “doing good”- and they can always more support.

Clutter

Clutter Moving and Storage: The last week of December I was just OVER my dining room. It was time for an update, but I still love the furniture I inherited from my parents and the home I grew up in so I called Clutter and was wildly impressed with their service. On a Monday I was able to book them for Thursday. A team of three came to my house, professionally packed and wrapped my furniture, and is now storing it at a relatively low monthly cost. It was just the fresh start I needed for 2022. I highly recommend them to my clients for packing and storage support!

Jenni Kayne/Conair Sweater Shaver

Visiting the Jenni Kayne store in Marin Country Mart is such an enjoyable experience. The casual, classic California look fits perfectly with the lifestyle of so many of my friends and clients. Their cashmere sweaters are DREAMY and they often take me from broker tours to listing appointments. One thing that gets me down about cashmere sweaters, in general, is piling… but the staff at Jenni Kayne had a solution. I purchased the Conair Sweater Shaver per their advice and it is a game changer. All of my sweaters look brand new! Add this to your Amazon cart.

Lake Pajamas

In late December I did a total overhaul of my pajama drawer because of ONE gift- a striped pair of long-sleeved pajamas from Lake. These uber-luxurious PJs don’t break the bank and make you feel like you are waking up on vacation every morning. I also love matching with my kids for a few snuggly weekend mornings! These will also be on my gift list!

Marea Clark

Last night I attended an outdoor meeting for the Edgewood Auxiliary at the home of a friend. (More on the Edgewood Fair below!) We were in and out of my friend’s newly renovated carriage house- and we couldn’t stop talking about its fabulous design. She used Marea Clar, a San Francisco interior designer I often refer to clients. She has a classic yet bold style I am obsessed with.

The Edgewood Auxiliary Fair

(March 31- April 1, 2022) - I’m a proud supporter of the Edgewood Center and Edgewood Auxiliary. Shopping, cocktails, bites, and raising funds to support a center helping young people and their families in crisis?- you cannot go wrong! Since 1851, The Edgewood Center’s work has focused on issues such as mental health, family relationships, and life skills, and our programs range from prevention and early intervention to community-based, day and residential treatment. Especially after all that children and families have been through during the pandemic, their work is more important than ever. The luncheon on April 1 is already sold out, but preview party tickets are still available, for now! Get yours today!

Preppi Emergency Kits

Okay, yes… these monogrammed answers to my earthquake prep prayers were part of Oprah’s favorite things a year ago… but I missed them! It took me going through the parking lot on the way to Soul Cycle where I saw a Preppi Emergency Kit pop up at Marin Country Mart. I snagged two “Little Prepsters” for my children- complete with water, snacks, coloring pens, and puzzles as well as The Prepster for myself and my husband. I mean… I hope the big one never comes, but I will sleep more soundly thinking of my playing cards and stainless steel flask waiting patiently for me.

Palette Tea House

We’ve been so lucky to be able to access the Compass Beach Street office during the San Francisco lockdown (all while following COVID-19 safe protocols like wearing masks, social distancing, and daily health forms). It’s usually only myself and two teammates in this enormous office. Just before the holidays one of my teammates and I needed lunch, so we walked out the door to explore what was open in Ghirardelli Square. Palette Tea House to the rescue!!! The hardworking owners of this SF restaurant are there daily serving to-go dim sum that has me DREAMING of ha gow and steamed pork buns! I highly recommend supporting this local restaurant
